What to Expect

First session is normally 90 minutes and begins with a full consultation to understand your medical history, physical issues and treatment goals.

The osteopath will undertake an examination. They may ask you to perform some movements. They will be assessing your range and quality of motion as well as looking for pain.

Treatment can often involves a combination of manipulation, massage,  stretching and to help free up movement and reduce pain as well as acupuncture, kinesio tape.

Follow-up sessions are normally an hour.

Track Your Progress

We use tools such ActivForce2 and the SFMA app to give patients an objective measure of their current function (such as strength and range of motion) and which allow you to track your progress. As function improves pain usually subsides.

Whenever possible we aim to provide you with a permanent solution to your issue. We try to give our patients the tools to if not fix, self manage their issue. This may involve detailed testing to get to root cause of your pain and may involve giving you some brief exercises to help you stay out pain. 

Our  Story

 

Joel is an Osteopath registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy and the Institute of Classical Osteopathy. He qualified from a 4 year integrated Masters degree in 2013 from the British School of Osteopathy (now UCO) the oldest and largest Osteopathic Institution in the Europe. He continues to study and has specialist interests in breathing, movement and stress. A considerable amount of his work is influenced by Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization.

He is also qualified in Medical Acupuncture, Sports Massage, Neurokinetic Therapy and many other treatment methods.

 

Joel also holds a degree in Anthropology which has given him an understanding of the evolution of functional human movement, culture and eating habits.
